The Drinking Water program includes watershed/source protection, groundwater, and public water supplies.

At the Salt Lake Valley Health Department we help protect the public drinking water systems by:

  • Inspecting the all public water systems on a regular schedule to ensure safety.
  • Collecting water samples from systems on a regular basis and analyzed for indicators of contamination.
  • Investigating suspected waterborne illnesses and complaints from the public.
  • Reviewing building plans to make sure that adequate drinking water is available.
  • Enforcing Drinking Water Source Protection Ordinances.

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department strives to protect public drinking water supplies and ensure fluoride is added to the water through enforcement of

  1. Watershed - Health Regulation #14
  2. Individual Drinking Water Systems - Health Regulation # 11
  3. Subdivision Approval - Health Regulation #12
  4. Floridation - Health Regulation #33
  5.  County Drinking Water Source Protection Ordinance.
