Air Pollution

Air Pollution Control Bureau - regulates the Motor Vehicle Emissions I/M Program and enforces regulations regarding sources of air pollution, including links to current air quality conditions and report smoking vehicles within Salt Lake County.

Cancer

Women's Cancer Screening - provides free and low cost Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Exams to women ages 40-64 who live in low income households.

Cardiovascular Disease

Weigh Active and Healthy - obesity prevention program that promotes healthy lifestyles for all of county residents.

Healthy Communities - identifies local issues that affect health and quality of life and implements proven programs to better the community and the lives of people who live and work there.

Clinical Care

Child Health Evaluation and Care (CHEC) - Utah State Medicaid Program for children ages 0-21 who qualify for assistance.

Clinical Services - Women's and Children's Health - a collaboration between SLVHD and community partners to provide comprehensive pediatric and women’s health services to women, teens and children in Salt Lake County.

Oral Health Program - provides education on preventative oral health care and connections to low or no cost dental care.

Family Dental Plan - provides recipients of government assistance programs access to appropriate dental services including emergency relief of dental pain/trauma.

Disaster/Emergency Preparedness

Emergency Preparedness Bureau - information on how to prepare yourself and your family for a local emergency, including extensive information on biological, chemical and radiological agents which could be used for bioterrorism.

Disease Reporting

Epidemiology Bureau - resources for reporting a disease outbreak in addition to disease tracking and surveillance.

Food Safety

Food Protection Bureau - information on general food safety, mass gathering permits, temporary food booth permits, food handler classes, residential daycare inspections and restaurant inspections and complaints.

Hazardous Waste

Water Quality and Hazardous Waste Bureau - regulates public swimming pools, solid waste and processing facilities, drinking water systems and individual waste water systems. The Bureau also manages the collection of household hazardous waste and operates a pollution prevention program to assist businesses in reducing their waste streams.

Home Visitation

Public Health Nursing Program - services are provided by registered nurses to clients in their homes, including targeted case management, early intervention and the Nurse-Family Partnership program for first-time mothers.
